Sokoto rewards six workers with house, hajj sponsorship



The Sokoto state government has rewarded six civil servants for their  dedication , discipline, punctuality and commitment in the discharge of  their various responsibilities.

The overall winner and a senior civil servant, Usman Magaji of the Ministry of Finance won a  house and N750,000 for furniture donated by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Similar, a watchman at the department of Physically Challenged, Malam Bello Ketare who became first in the Junior category was given a plot of land and N500,000 donated by the Governor.

Late Hassan Hamza of the Scholarship Board who came  second in the junior category received a hajj seat which Governor Tambuwal directed to be monitized for the benefit of his family.

Hamza was said to have died shortly after they were shortlisted for the ward and a special prayer was offered for the repose of his soul at the event.

The other three winners received either hajj seats or cash with Governor Tambuwal reiterating  the determination of his government to always reward exemplary performance and conduct in service to serve as motivation to all staff.

He added that his government would not hesitate to punish any worker found wanting in the discharge of his duties.

Tambuwal also stressed commitment of his administration to reinvigorate and strengthen  the capacity of the state civil servants to smoothly discharge their duties  without any hindrance.

"We have ensured that the enabling working condition is created through constant provision of working implements and adequate funding so that ministries, departments and agencies can render quality service to the citizenry, " he stated.

The governor added:"The administration has placed higher priority to the training and retraining of our civil servants. And we made it compulsory for all workers with minimum qualification of SSCE to be computer literate by the end of 2018 in addition to timely payment of salaries, pension and gratuities for retires civil servants. "

He  revealed that his government had so far spent over three billion Naira on pension and gratuities.
