The National hajj
commission in collaboration with the Nasarawa state Muslim Pilgrims welfare
board has organized a one day sensitization workshop for staff of the board on
security challenges ahead of this year's hajj operation in Lafia.
Speaking at the occasion leader of the sensitization team,
Aliyu Sulaiman Maddibo said the workshop was aimed at enlightening staff of the
board on need to be security conscious and ensure proper monitoring of the
activities of intending Pilgrims.
He explained that the exercise was introduced not to deny
citizenry from performing the spiritual journey but in view of the global
security challenges, urging intending Pilgrims from the state to conduct
themselves in an orderly manner and avoid act capable of denting the good image
of the state and the country at large.
On there parts, Chairman and Secretary Muslim Pilgrims Board in
the state Malam Muhammad Ubangari Umar and Malam Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba
reiterated that security is a collective responsibility, hence the need
for intending pilgrims from the state to report anybody with questionable
characters to the appropriate authority for necessary action.
While assuring there commitment towards ensuring a hitch free
hajj exercise, The duo stressed that the board would not hesitate to take
drastic action on any group or individual who try to defraud Pilgrims or cause
security challenges before, during and after this year's hajj preparation.
