6,000 people in Qatar register online for Haj in two days

Six thousand people have applied online in two days to perform the
2017 Haj (1438 Hijri) in Qatar this year.
Qatar has 1200 slots for pilgrims this year and out of which 900
are for Qatari citizens and 300 for expatriates.
The registration process started from Wednesday, March 1 and the
forms are available till March 30.
Those wishing to perform Haj pilgrimage (1438 Hijri) this year
have to register their details online.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said
that those wishing to register can fill out the form with their details on the
website (www.hajj.gov.qa) of Haj and Umrah Department. The website is
available in both English and Arabic.
Director of Haj and Umrah Department Ali Sultan Al Misifry
underlined that the registration process through the website will be easy for
nationals and residents who wish to apply for Hajj this year.
For Qatari pilgrims, the applicant should be at least 18 years old
and an accompanied person, 16 years old. Meanwhile, residents should be at
least 18 years old, having a minimum of three years residence and not having
performed Haj during the last five years. Female residents without
"Mahram" should be at least 45 years old, and not less than 18 years,
in case of an accompanied person, in addition to the availability of a "Mahram".
All passport must be read electronically (E-Passport).
Al Misifry noted that screening process will be done
electronically as soon as the end of the registration period on each of the
applicable conditions contained in the statement.
He underlined that supporting committees have completed all
preparations, noting that they will begin inspection tours of the campaigns'
homes in the holy lands after the holy month of Ramadan.
He highlighted the ongoing cooperation with the State's ministries
and institutions which support the work of Qatar's Haj Mission in the fields of
health and food care, security and safety, and communications for Qatar's
pilgrims.
The Haj and Umrah Affairs Department allocated hotline at 132
allows the public to communicate with the Department during working time to
inquire about everything related to Haj season this year.
