‘NAHCON Determined To Bring Down 2017 Hajj Fares’
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has expressed
readiness to bring down hajj fares for the comfort of intending pilgrims to the
2017 holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
Making this revelation is NAHCON’s head of media, Alhaji Uba
Mana, in a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, yesterday.
The media head who just came back from accommodation inspection
tour of Saudi Arabia saidv NAHCON in view of new government policy has
negotiated with service providers in the Holy Land that accommodation for
states’ pilgrims should be looked into according to their values.
He said, “Take for example, do you expect somebody who lodge
into a three star hotel in Nigeria to pay the same price as someone who seeks
accommodation in a five star hotel?
He said NAHCON has inspected the houses for this year’s intending
pilgrims, satisfied with it and asked the states to pick from them.
“As I talk to you now, my chairman, our commissioner of finance
and some other senior officers are still busy in Saudi Arabia trying to bring
down the prices of accommodation there. From our end, we want to do the review
of the accommodation price, their values and submit these to the management (of
NAHCON).”
