Kogi Hajj Commission Boss Accused of corruption by colleague

The acting Chairman of Kogi State Hajj Commission, Abdullahi Ahmed has been accused of corruption and incompetence by the commissioner in charge of Operations at the commission, Muhammed Ashafa Yusuf.

Alhaji Yusuf accuse the acting Chairman of solely awarding a contract for the provision of accommodation to be used by the state pilgrims in Saudi Arabia without the approval of management as required by law.

Alhaji Yusuf, who wrote a petition dated 14th March, 2017, to the Secretary to State Government, SSG, Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike, also alleged that the acting chairman awarded the contract to the same agent who was involved in the corruption that led to the sack of the former chairman.

Among the allegations raised against the acting chairman was that without the consent of any of the members of the board, he solely awarded the accommodation contract to the agent Alhaji Adamu who was accused of conniving with the former chairman to provide sub-standard accommodation for Kogi State Pilgrims during last year's hajj.  

He was also alleged to have refused to pay three months salary arrears approved by Governor Yahaya Bello for Saudi based Kogi State Hajj commission drivers.

 He was also accused of meeting with some suspended staff of the commission involved in the mismanagement during 2016 hajj.    

 It would be recalled that the former Chairman of Kogi State Hajj Commission, Alhaji Sadiq Rabiu was removed and handed over to Department of State Services, DSS by the state governor over allegations of financial irregularities perpetuated under his reign during the 2016 hajj.  

Muhammed Ashafa Yusuf was appointed acting Chairman was appointed by governor Bello to pilots the affairs of the commission.
