2017 HAJJ: FCT intending pilgrims gets deadline to pay up Hajj fare

Intending Pilgrims who have made deposit for this year’s hajj with the Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board have till Wednesday 7th June to balance their payment.

A statement from the spokesperson the Board, Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, on Wednesday in Abuja said the deadline was sequel to the release of the approval of FCT's hajj fare for this year’s pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia by the National Hajj

Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The fare for this year according to Muhammad Lawal Aliyu is One million, five hundred and thirty eight thousand, two hundred and eighteen naira, sixty two kobo (N1,538, 218.62k).

He said that all pilgrims from the territory would get a flat Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) of eight hundred US dollars ($800.00) across the board as fixed by NAHCON.

The spokesperson explained that the payment became necessary to enable the board meets up with the deadline for the balance of payment for this year’s hajj fare by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Similarly, the statement warned intending pilgrims who are yet to submit their completed application forms and e-passports to do so before the deadline or have themselves to blame.

He explained that the warning became necessary as the board would soon commence the process of acquiring visa from the Saudi Arabian embassy in Abuja. 

The Spokesperson disclosed that the board has set machineries in motion towards successful hajj operation and has since acquired befitting accommodation in Makkah to enable the pilgrims from the territory perform their five daily prayers in holy Haram with less stress.

He therefore, advised residents who have the intention of performing the hajj through the board to get registered with the officials of the board across the six area council secretariats of the territory via a bank draft of the hajj fare package.
